Donate your birthday. Swim Lake Ontario. Grow a beard. Get started now with a creative fundraiser that trains a doctor from a developing nation.
Start a fundraiser for medical training and help spread the word. You don’t need to be a professional and you don’t need to wait for an occasion. With CanadaHelps’ Fundraising Pages (the website we use to process your donations), it’s easy to turn every day into a unique fundraising opportunity.
Don’t need another toaster or gift card? Do your kids get more gifts than they know what to do with on their birthdays? Or maybe you’re having your third child and don’t need any new baby gifts? Events like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, and even graduations are ideal occasions to fundraise because friends and family like to mark the occasion by giving.
Our Fundraising Pages work much like a gift registry. You select our non-profit as your charity, and your loved ones make donations in lieu of gifts. However, unlike a gift registry, there are no pre-determined gift prices. So your guests can give whatever amount they feel most comfortable with. And since they’ll receive a tax receipt, they may even give more.
By making a personal sacrifice or overcoming a challenge, you demonstrate your passion for our cause – and passion can be contagious! Shave your head, climb a mountain, or bike across the country, or try to break a world record – there are a lot of them to choose from.
The flexibility of a Fundraising Page allows you to use your strengths – whatever they may be – to encourage giving back within your community.
These are traditional fundraising opportunities, but you don’t have to take part in a large marathon to help a charity you love. The power of any sporting event can be harnessed to support our cause. Play on an office softball team? Choose us as your charity for the whole team to support, and get friends and family members to pledge donations. You could also talk to your local community centre about using space to hold a dance-a-thon, or rent out the local bowling alley and collect pledges for pins knocked down. Whatever your sport, there’s an opportunity to turn your passion for the game into passion for doctors in developing countries who need medical training.
In Honour of a Loved One
Many people are awakened to the amazing work that we do when they are faced with a difficult life event like an illness or the loss of a loved one. Raising money and awareness for the St. Joseph’s Health System International Outreach Program can be a fulfilling way to honour someone, and to recognize the work we do to restore health, treat disease and save lives.
There are endless opportunities to turn everyday events into opportunities to give back. Like the great Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
If you are not already a donor to CanadaHelps, you will need to create a username and password. Then choose “St. Joseph’s Health System International Outreach Program” as your charity. If you need help, call us at (519) 500-9746.
